A Clarion Call On Ndi-Imo To Embrace Next Level – Dr. Uzoma Obiyo

Presidential and National Assembly elections have come and gone with attendant consequences. As we look forward to March 9, 2019 Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, what do we want as a people? What type of person and character do we need to lead us as governor at expiration of present administration? As we ponder on these questions and more many, our collective interest should be on how to enthrone a peoples oriented government.

The feat recorded by Imo APC Coalition at last year’s party Congresses were visible and is still fresh in our memories. The Coalition was able to achieve such feat through purposeful leadership and mutual understanding. After critical look on performance of various political parties and candidates at the just concluded February 23, 2019 elections, we are left with no option than to restrategise and go into the next election as one indivisible body with common interest.

When you traverse nooks and crannies of the state, you will agree with me that eight out of ten persons you interact with are praying for, and desirous of a change in governance of the state. We won’t be able to achieve this change our people yeah for in present political circumstance as we are sharply divided amongst ourselves. We won’t be able to achieve this by mere wishing and internet discourses. We should be able to make our want and need come into agreeable terms before next elections. The only way out of present economic quagmire and maladministration bedeviling our state is for notable political gladiators to come together in unity dedicated to collective victory.

In coming together for this herculean task, we should put into consideration a candidate with wider reach and contact to protect votes of the electorates. We should also consider a candidate and political party with federal might bearing in mind how elections are won and lost in contemporary Nigeria.

In view of the above, I make this clarion call on Ndi-Imo to come together in unity for a collective victory. I call on Ndi-Imo to unite as we did at last APC Congresses to achieve victory. During the Congresses, all Imolites with different spheres of opinions and political leanings were supportive of actions of Imo APC Coalition against Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his Ndi-Agburu. We should reawaken the spirit we used at the Congresses once more. I implore all members of Imo APC Coalition who left for other parties, all political leaders and candidates both Gubernatorial, National and State Assemblies in the state to unite and support distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma of APC to victory which shall enable us form a Unity Government in the state come May 29, 2019.

It’s obvious that chances of most political parties and candidates in the state is now so slim since declaration of Muhammadu Buhari of APC as President Elect, thereby making chances of candidate of APC brighter. The need to forge a common front cannot be overemphasised. I firmly believe that all agreements reached in this new alliance when victory is achieved shall be kept to the later.

Ndi-Imo, this is our golden opportunity to take back our state and hand it over to the people. Posterity won’t be fair to us especially we leaders if we fail to realise this noble course due to selfish and parochial interests. Our common enemy is present bad leadership in the state and any sacrifice made to ensure it’s dethronement won’t be much to bear.

The time to come together is now, and in all fairness, the political party to be used to drive home our collective interest in present circumstance is APC with Senator Hope Uzodinma as our acceptable candidate.

God bless Ndi-Imo
