The alleged sexual harassment involving Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken a new turn as fresh protests demand his resignation.

This development follows the recent suspension of Senator Natasha by the Senate over what they termed “gross misconduct.” The incident began after Senator Natasha refused to comply with a new seating arrangement in the Senate, stating that she had not been notified of the change. This led to a heated argument between her and Senate President Akpabio, who instructed that she be punished for disobeying the Senate’s rules.
Days later, Natasha raised allegations of sexual harassment, claiming that Akpabio had made advances toward her, which she rejected, citing her happy marriage. She alleged that this rejection led to unfair treatment by Akpabio, disrupting her ability to perform her duties effectively.

The Senate President has denied these allegations, but the claims have sparked outrage among many Nigerians, particularly Natasha’s supporters, who are calling for Akpabio to step aside to allow for a proper investigation.
Senator Natasha has also challenged her suspension, calling it illegal and unconstitutional, and has vowed not to accept it. She has taken the matter to court to seek redress.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as events unfold.
