AKTC Bus Ambushed: 19 Abducted by Gunmen Near Akwa Ibom-Abia Border.
A driver and 18 passengers of an Akwa Ibom State Transport Company (AKTC) bus were abducted by unknown gunmen in Azumini, a boundary town between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.
The incident occurred last Wednesday when the AKTC bus left the Uyo terminal and was traveling through Iwukem in the Etim Ekpo council area. The bus was intercepted by the abductors at the Azumini axis of the road.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident and stated that it is under investigation.
According to reports, the gunmen stopped the bus by firing shots into the air. A source revealed, “All the passengers were ordered to come out of the vehicle or be killed, and they complied. The driver was the first to exit, followed by the passengers. The kidnappers then led them into the bush and escaped with them. The whereabouts of the passengers remain unknown.”

ASP Timfon John added, “Yes, the incident happened along the Azumini axis of the road after Etim Ekpo local government area. The police are currently monitoring the situation.”
