Atiku at 73, Ortom, Jonathan & PDP Congratulates Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; former president Goodluck Jonathan; and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday congratulated former vice president, Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) on his 73rd birthday anniversary.
Ortom described Atiku as a “patriotic Nigerian whose numerous contributions to the development of the country transcend ethnic, political and religious boundaries.”
He added that Atiku’s “huge investments in human capital development, as well as the former vice president’s philanthropic deeds are worthy of emulation.”
The governor prayed God to sustain His blessings upon the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, to “enable him continue to render selfless services to the nation.”

Ortom also used the opportunity to commiserate with Atiku over the death of his aide, Umar Pariya, and sympathised with the bereaved family. He described the death of Pariya as a sad loss.
Jonathan has also rejoiced with the former vice president on his 73rd birthday anniversary.
Jonathan, in a statement, said: “I join your family, friends and all your associates to congratulate you as you mark your 73rd birthday.
“Your Excellency, that you have come this far in good health and sound mind is a testimony of God’s grace and blessing in your life.
“My family and I pray for renewed strength, God’s wisdom and guidance as you aspire to do more towards addressing societal challenges. Happy birthday.”
Similarly, PDP has congratulated Atiku, describing him as “an exceptional patriot, quintessential democrat, leading light and incontrovertible symbol of the collective quest by Nigerians for a united, peaceful, secure, democratic and prosperous nation governed by the rule of law, equity and justice for all.”
According to the party, “Indeed, Atiku Abubakar leads the trail in the hope for a much-desired national rebirth, anchored on purposeful leadership where the overall interest of the people is over and above selfish personal interests.
“It is therefore lamentable that at the time our nation would have been enjoying the dividends of Atiku Abubakar’s blueprint for economic recovery and political stability, our citizens are rather groaning under prevailing harsh economic polices, excruciating multiple taxes, worsened security situation and degenerated poverty in the land.”
PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, boasted that the nation, by now, would have been enjoying a breath of fresh air had the February presidential election had gone the party’s way.
“This is so because Atiku Abubakar has demonstrated in all spheres of life that the true worth of leadership is in applying the powers therein for the collective good of the people rather than that of a group or self,” the statement added.
PDP joined family members, millions of compatriots, friends and associates in celebrating Atiku, while supplicating “Almighty God to continue to bless him and keep him in good health as he applies his wealth of experience and goodwill for the service of our dear fatherland.”
