The situation escalated rapidly. Aisha stated that Rawi threatened her life, brandishing a pair of scissors and warning that he would kill her if she resisted. Paralyzed by fear, she was then subjected to a violent assault.

This case highlights the extreme vulnerability of apprentices, particularly young women, in informal work settings. The power dynamic between an employer and a trainee, who is often dependent on the boss for learning and income, can create opportunities for exploitation and abuse.

Aisha Haruna’s courage in speaking out publicly is a powerful step toward seeking justice. Her account has been widely shared, sparking outrage and calls for a thorough investigation and swift legal action against the accused.
