Nabeeha’s Kidnapping: Family Reveals Ransom Payment, Counters Rescue Claim by Police.
The harrowing ordeal of the Al-Kadriyar family took a hopeful turn with the release of the five abducted girls by their captors. However, the details surrounding their freedom show that ransom was paid and contradict the official narrative of a police rescue.
According to the report, the girls along with their sister Nabeeha and father Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar, were abducted on January 2nd from their home in Zuma 1, near Bwari town. A family uncle was tragically shot dead while guiding a police rescue team that same night.
Alhaji Mansoor was released three days later with a hefty ransom demand of N60 million. The deadline expired on Friday the 12th of January, but the family’s struggle to meet it resulted in Nabeeha’s brutal murder and a raised ransom of N100 million.
Despite the FCT police claiming credit for the girls’ rescue through their anti-kidnapping squad and army collaboration, the family however has a different story. Jamiu Salman, an uncle to the victims, recounted receiving a call from one of the girls on Saturday evening, informing them of their release and providing location details.
Salman, along with the late Nabeeha father’s younger brother, mobilized and reached Jere junction, where they met military personnel who escorted them to a remote area near Gurara Dam. There, they found the girls and brought them home safely under military escort.
Crucially, Salman confirmed that a ransom was paid last Wednesday, although he declined to reveal the amount. This claim is further corroborated by Mubarak Alkadriyar, a cousin involved in the girls’ retrieval. He detailed a joint ransom payment made on behalf of the Al-Kadriyar family and seven other individuals abducted from the Dutse area.

Mubarak strongly criticized the security forces’ claim of a rescue, stating that the release was solely at the captors’ discretion after receiving the ransom. He questioned the agencies’ priorities and their delayed intervention, allowing the bandits to hold the girls for days even after payment.
