Policemen Arrest Bandits Who Killed Village and Terrorize Abuja Residents After Wike Placed N20 Million Bounty.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s anti-kidnapping squad executed a successful operation in the early hours of Thursday, February 15, 2024. The operation, which targeted two kidnappers’ camps situated in the Kuje Area Council near the Abuja-Nasarawa border, resulted in the apprehension of key suspects involved in crimes plaguing the region.

Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, was identified as the ringleader of one of the gangs responsible for the brutal killing of a village head. Accompanying him was another person implicated in various kidnapping schemes around the FCT.

Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police Command, confirmed the arrests in a statement. This comes after the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike sanctioned a N20 million bounty on Adamu and another suspect, Abu Ibrahim. Wike’s directive shows the government’s commitment to neutralizing criminal elements wreaking havoc on the lives and livelihoods of innocent citizens.

Before the recent crackdown, a coordinated effort between the Utako Divisional Headquarters and the anti-kidnapping unit had already yielded the arrest of seven members affiliated with the kidnapping syndicate. Usman Muhazu, Aliyu Muhammad, Auwal Lahiru, Rabiu Sani, Madina Abubakar, Jonah Elimelechi, and Saminu Idris were among those apprehended, further dismantling the criminal network responsible for instilling fear and insecurity in the region.

The arrests were made possible through intelligence provided to law enforcement authorities. Despite facing formidable resistance during the operation, law enforcement officers demonstrated courage and resilience, ultimately prevailing against the armed assailants. As a result, two kidnapping victims held captive in the Kuje Area Council, Habu Yakubu, and Isufu Abubakar, were liberated from captivity.
