So sad – Police Officer Killed On His Way To Visit His Wife Who Just Gave Birth To Twins In Akwa Ibom.
Unidentified gunmen have killed a policeman in an attack on two police stations in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
According to newsmen, the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

The state Police Command spokesman, SP Odiko Macdon, said the gunmen first attacked Etim Ekpo Area Command, where Officer Edogi Bassey was killed, and later moved to Ika Divisional Police Station.

” At about 6: 30 a. m. today, gunmen armed in large numbers with AK 47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, in two vehicles, attacked the rented building housing the Etim Ekpo Area Command and the division. “
” The fearless and vigilant policemen on duty bravely defended themselves, repelled them and prevented the planned carnage. Unfortunately, a very dedicated officer, one PC Edogi Bassey, paid the ultimate price as a small part of the building went up in flames. “

” The gunmen who moved into Ika Division to continue with their nefarious activities were successfully repelled, leaving the station intact with no loss of life or weapons. “
Macdon noted that the state Commissioner of Police, Amiengheme Andrew, has started visiting police divisions across the state to ensure that the officers and men are vigilant and safe.
He appealed to residents of Akwa Ibom to provide credible information to enable the police to address the current security challenges and to give any useful information to the security agency.

Thugs also reportedly attacked and vandalized the Senator Godswill Akpabio Unity Hall in Essien Udim Local Government Area early Wednesday.
The town hall was built by a former Member of Parliament, Nse Ntuen, who represented Essien Udim Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
