Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros and Katyucia Lie Hoshino prove that true love stands tall no matter how small the package. Recognized by Guinness World Records as the shortest married couple in the world, their combined height of just 181.41 cm (71.42 inches) hasn’t stopped them from building a giant-sized love story.

Their romance started in 2006 on Orkut, a social media platform that predated Facebook’s dominance. Paulo, a civil servant from Itapeva, São Paulo, knew immediately that Katyucia, a beauty salon owner from Londrina, was special. But love wasn’t instant – Katyucia blocked him at first!
“I thought he was just another guy sending messages,” Katyucia admits. But Paulo’s persistence paid off. For two years, they nurtured their connection through constant messaging, bridging the physical distance between them with digital closeness.
Their first in-person meeting in December 2008 confirmed what their hearts already knew. “The moment we met, all doubts disappeared,” Paulo recalls. The chemistry was undeniable, and they began dating soon after.
By January 2012, Katyucia made the life-changing decision to leave her hometown and move to Itapeva to be with Paulo full-time. “We knew we were meant to be together,” she says. “Distance couldn’t keep us apart forever.”

As record holders since November 3, 2016, the couple attracts attention wherever they go – not all of it positive. “People stare, sometimes they point or make comments,” Paulo shares. But their union gives them strength. “Being together makes it easier to handle,” Katyucia adds. “We have each other’s backs.”
Their story challenges societal norms about relationships and physical appearance. “Love isn’t about height or appearance,” Paulo emphasizes. “It’s about connection, understanding, and commitment.”
Their Guinness World Record certificate hangs proudly in their home, but their greatest achievement is the life they’ve built together – proving that when it comes to love, the smallest packages can contain the greatest gifts.
