The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Northwest), Abdullahi Yakasai, joined government officials, policymakers, and civil society stakeholders at a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement.
The event, held at Arewa House in Kaduna State, was organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation under the theme: “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government–Citizen Engagement for National Unity.”

The forum provided ministers and heads of federal agencies a platform to highlight key achievements under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Officials outlined critical reforms and policy directions aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy and governance structures.
Yakasai acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians due to recent economic reforms but emphasized their necessity for long-term growth. “Though as painful as they are, they’re bold steps necessarily needed to position the country to leapfrog from being an underdeveloped nation to a developing one,” he stated.

He also commended the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation for facilitating the dialogue, which strengthened transparency and trust between leaders and citizens.
The session reinforced the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance while allowing citizens to engage directly with policymakers on national issues.
