Weddings are enjoyable and a big day which is meant for people to celebrate their cherished relationships, and pledge eternal love to each other. Every couple has their idea of a suitable wedding theme and also has a way of celebrating their wedding to make it a remembered one, like this Thai couple who prefer to have a coffin on display on their wedding day.

The Thai government has stated that more than 100 couples have queued up to have their wedding ceremony performed in a casket.

A temple in Bangkok holds a very unique wedding ceremony on Valentine’s Day and Christmas Day every year, according to a report. The event is mainly meant for couples who want to tie the knot or who wish to reaffirm their marital vows.

In accordance with the Bangkok Post, the majority of couples choose to exchange their wedding vows in the Bangkok neighbourhood of Bang Rak — which translates as “Place of Love,” while others also choose an odd location such as Wat Ta Kien in Nonthaburi’s Bang Kruay area.

Couples are supposed to present sacrifices to the monks and to lie in a pink casket covered with a white sheet during the days ritual, according to their tradition.

Before concluding the prayers, the monks will have to pretend that the couple is dead and gift the duo with a new life…. According to their tradition, after emerging from the grave with all ill-luck banished, the bride and husband would begin their lives afresh.

Although the ritual is not intended to “dispel bad luck,” a monk has advised that it might serve as a reminder for couples to “live with the truth that nothing lasts forever since death will arrive at some point,” according to the Bangkok Post.
