According to the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest followed a report from a school in Awka. During a class, teachers noticed serious injuries on the body of the teenage girl and immediately raised an alarm.

“When questioned, the victim explained that the injuries were caused by her guardian,” Ikenga stated in a release on Wednesday. “She said the woman was angry because she had used the guardian’s phone to make calls without asking for permission first.”
The police said the girl told them that Osinachi, as punishment, used a hot pressing iron to burn her face and body.
