Fresh Attacks In Oyo By Herdsmen, See What Sunday Igboho Might Be Forced To Do
In Oyo State, especially in the Ibarapa area, there appears to be a fresh crisis between herdsmen who are evicted from the area by Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho and the host communities.
The herdsmen were said to have started returning to the area and instead of carrying out their grazing activities without affecting the farmers, they are determined to destroy farms and ready to attack anyone who tries to stop them.
According to Mr. Abiodun Adegoke, the Chairman of Real Farmers Association of Nigeria, Igangan branch in Ibarapa local government area, he said the herders are using their on cassava farms thereby destroying a large part of those farms. He said this by narrating how herdsmen destroyed a cassava farm at Olukosi village on February 14.

He said, ” Two weeks ago, another incident happened at Asunnara village. Some herdsmen grazed their animals on the farm of Semiu Ariwoola. They invaded the farm and started uprooting cassava there to feed their animals. Our people mobilized and ran after the herders and their animals.

” They escaped but six rams among the livestock were caught and were taken to the Igangan Police Station. These people have shown that they cannot change. One would have expected that they would desist from farm destruction, plundering, and attacking farmers, but they have returned to their wicked ways.

” We were attending a meeting organized by the Justice, Development, and Peace Commission on Wednesday and I received a call that some herdsmen were grazing on someone’ s farm. The farmer challenged them and they started beating him. Two of them beat him mercilessly with their rods. “
The latest development in Ibarapa land concerning the herdsmen could the Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho to visit the area once again. His first visitation after the quit notice resulted in the eviction of herdsmen in Igangan, therefore if he decided to go there again, what happened in January is also expected.
