Ojude Oba is an ancient Yoruba festival celebrated by the people of Ijebu-Ode, a historic town in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. Held on the third day after Eid al-Kabir, the festival pays homage to the Awujale of Ijebuland, the revered monarch of the Ijebu kingdom.

Beyond the breathtaking fashion, Ojude Oba is a cultural cornerstone—a moment where history, tradition, and personal expression collide in one spectacular celebration. At the heart of it all are the regberegbe, age-grade groups that turn out in meticulously coordinated outfits to honour the Awujale.

This year, the regberegbe transformed the streets into their runway. Some arrived on horseback, upholding their families’ longstanding equestrian traditions, while others made grand entrances fit for a red carpet.
The women dazzled in buba and iro crafted from lace, aso-oke, adire, brocade, and damask. But the real spectacle was in the styling—shoes matched gele, gele matched purses, and purses matched jewellery. Some groups took coordination to the next level with identical accessories, proving that unity and style go hand in hand.
Not to be outdone, the men brought their A-game in elaborate agbada, showcasing bold, regal colours. Their caps sat perfectly, while coral beads adorned necks, wrists, and ankles. Walking sticks became the must-have accessory, adding an extra touch of elegance.
