It all began with an interview shared on Facebook, where she was seen late at night with her bag. When asked where she was going at such an hour, her compelling story unfolded.
Chinenye, an 18-year-old secondary school student from Anambra State, Nigeria, narrated that she had been staying with her father’s sister, Ms. Ebere. She was reportedly asked to leave the house due to her refusal to support a false accusation made against another woman.

According to Chinenye, her aunt couldn’t provide money for her food and nutrition assignment. So, she sought help from a friend’s mother, who, along with her friend, assisted her in getting materials for the assignment. Apparently, this did not sit well with her aunt, who accused her friend’s mother of sabotage and kidnapping. Chinenye vehemently denied being kidnapped or that her friend’s mother turned her against her aunt. This infuriated her aunt, leading her to ask the young girl to leave her home.

The interviewer, seeking to verify her account, investigated by visiting Chinenye’s school. They met with the principal and one of her teachers, who confirmed that Chinenye was a good and very intelligent student. They also confirmed her financial difficulties and outstanding bills, though they had allowed her to remain in school and write her exams. They added that they had often played a parental role in Chinenye’s life, frequently permitting her to sit for exams even without payment, with the understanding that she would pay when she had the money.

Following her interview, which went viral thanks to the power of the internet, Chinenye has received help from numerous individuals and even corporate organizations who don’t want the dream of this ambitious, vibrant young girl to be cut short. From her interactions, it’s clear she is intelligent and destined for great things. All her outstanding school fees have been settled, and she continues to receive more donations daily.
