I overstayed in the US for 6 years and came to Canada. Now I’m a Canadian resident. Can I apply for a US visa again?
Very interesting. All these people don’t have first hand information about this scenerio! I do. My best friend did it.
He came to US from india on B1/B/2 visa. Overstayed 4 years. No criminal record in US & India. Applied for immigration to canada; and he got it. After he became PR in canada, he waited to be a canadian citizen. Then he entered US on the canadian passport. No problem.

The reason, i would advise you to wait till you become a canadian citizen is; once you leave US after getting canadian residency, the CBSA would stamp the date of your entry into canada along with port of entry.

Now if you apply for a US visa. If you come from countries like india, which have exit control, your passport will show the date of departure.
When you leave US, no exit control & you overstayed 6 years. The embassy will quickly figure out your overstay & mark it in their system about you as a red flag.
Now you won’t even get entry even after you become canadian citizen. So hang tight. Wait. Patience is the virtue. One thing very important. When you’re asked at the crossing bu US authorities about your previous visit to the US, tell them you’d been to US before as an Indian citizen. Don’t ever whispher about your overstay.
Tell them you were there for couple months. Since US doedn’t have exit control, you’d be fine.
Please & please don’t apply for a US visa. You will only axe your own foot! Good Luck.
