President Ebrahim Raisi was laid to rest on Thursday at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, Iran’s holiest Shiite shrine. Raisi, along with the country’s foreign minister and six others, died in the helicopter crash. He is the first high-ranking politician to be buried at this significant pilgrimage site, which attracts millions of visitors annually. His father-in-law serves as the city’s Friday prayer leader.
