In northern Israel, warning sirens pierced the air, accompanied by the sound of explosions as rockets launched from southern Lebanon approached. According to a Reuters report, Israel’s Iron Dome, an advanced aerial defense system, intercepted and successfully neutralized the incoming rockets. Despite the intensity of the situation, the country’s ambulance service reported no immediate casualties, though they remained on high alert.

The Israeli military issued advisories for residents to avoid large gatherings, a restriction that was later lifted. Work was permitted only for those with quick access to air raid shelters. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported damage to homes in northern areas due to the rocket barrage.
In contrast, Lebanon faced significant devastation. A security source reported that over 40 Israeli airstrikes targeted several southern towns, marking one of the most severe bombardments since hostilities began in October.

Among the attacks, a strike on the town of Khiam resulted in the death of a fighter from the Hezbollah-aligned Shi’ite group Amal, as confirmed by two security sources and later announced by Amal. Another airstrike in the town of al-Tiri claimed two more lives, though it was unclear whether the victims were fighters or civilians, according to security and medical sources.

A resident of Zibqeen, a town in southern Lebanon, described the harrowing experience: “We woke up to the sound of planes and the loud explosions of rockets—even before the dawn prayer. It felt like the apocalypse,” he told journalists.
