The family of 30-year-old Maryann Oluchukwu Onwuchekwa has announced burial arrangements after her life was tragically cut short by kidnappers. The young woman’s body was discovered by the roadside on March 5, 2025, bearing multiple stab wounds, following a harrowing abduction ordeal.

According to reports circulating on social media, the incident occurred when Maryann, her ailing father, and sister-in-law were returning from purchasing medication. The trio was ambushed by kidnappers who initially took all three captive. Due to his poor health, Maryann’s elderly father was later abandoned by the assailants, while her sister-in-law was released after ransom payment.

A heartbreaking account details how the sister-in-law’s mother personally delivered the ransom money as demanded by the kidnappers, who insisted a woman must make the payment. While this secured her daughter’s release, Maryann remained in captivity. When questioned about Maryann’s whereabouts upon returning home, the woman reportedly remained silent, leading to her arrest.
