Man Writes Love Letter to His Lost Leg.
Six years after a police shooting in a mall, Kingsley Ezera Kalu is still striving for a better life, though the scars of his lost leg remain. A trigger-happy officer fired shots while Kingsley was shopping with his family, forever altering his life.
Once vibrant and active at work and within his social circle, Kingsley now grapples with the limitations imposed by his disability. He is left with memories of his former self and the hope for brighter days.
Taking to Facebook, Kingsley penned a heartbreaking and emotional open letter reflecting on the challenges he has faced over the past six years since losing his leg. He expresses the ease of life with two legs and the difficulties he confronts as an amputee.
According to past reports, the Nigeria Police Force has offered little to no compensation for Kingsley’s loss. As a married man with children, we hope the government will revisit this issue and grant him the justice he deserves.

Open letter to my Leg on our Ampuversary
Is been six years without you and i can tell you it has not been easy at all, i never knew how important you were but this last six years have shown me how of a great support you were, we amplified the right for us that are right handed that we think the left is useless.
Letting you go was one of the hardest decision i had to take. Doctor said you have been infected with gangrene and the only option medically was to let you go, we prayed our hearts out and cried out eyes out trusting God for a Miracle, you need to see the long list of men that stood in the gap for divine Intervention. I am sure God knows best.
Going down memory lane on different adventures we have taken, jumping up and down, dancing in church, wearing any kind of shoe etc.
I took all these for granted as it is a normal activity but the last 6 years have taught me to factor your absence in every decision i have to make, down to carefully walking into the bathroom, oh the bathroom, i can’t count how many times i have slipped in the bathroom, which left my wife speechless watching her husband crawling out of the bathroom in pain, all the same i thank God my head didn’t touch the toilet sink, do you know that they can’t mope the house until i have taken a position where i will stay till the tiles are dry, which tells you that mopping the floor is out of it for me.
I have called for help in things i could have done without blinking, something as easy as changing the bulb, washing the car, carrying a box into the house. Did i forget to mention how long it takes to climb to the first floor, me that will leap through the stirs, second floor is a prayer point, did you say crossing the road haba, that’s a no no, that’s like mission impossible.
I have had to struggle to change a tyre on the express and a couple of times good samaritans stopped to assist, we still have good people you know.
I was going to lead a long prayer session one day, they had to drop chair for me at the altar before i will fall and they will think is anointing lol.
Talking about the prosthesis, you know that can’t take your place, never. Do you know what we have done together to compare a prosthesis to you, that will be a let down on your capacity and capabilities, mbanu. We climbed Absu mountain together long before hiking became a thing of pride, We don waka ooo.
Is it dancing in church, have you forgotten na we dey lead for front hapu okwu, what is prosthesis to you but for a truth the prosthesis dey try sha i no go lie. I tried to use it to drive manual car one day prosthesis refused to corporate. Let me gist you, do you know i drove 677 kilometers ( Abuja to Uyo) boy you missed, it was fun. Every police that stopped me on the road will ask about you chai.
A friend was gifting me a shoe recently prosthesis no gree me waka with the shoe, na so i tell my guy thank you. Lol. I have to wear a customized shoe cos of the alignment of the prosthesis. I don wear one shoe for 4 years.
I am trusting God for a MICRO PROCESSOR LEG, Genium , C Leg 4 etc from ottobock guy forget that leg is bad, e cost oooo, well 3R93 will not be a bad idea but they all can’t still be compared to you sha.
You didn’t meet Rhema he is such a cute boy, i await the day he will ask about you, i know it will be very emotional for him but i also know he will also be happy it was not worse than what it is.
You know i was so emotional that i didn’t even have the privilege to know where you were laid, i would have come around to read this to you, all the same, just know that you made a good memory. Thank you for the 30 plus years we spent together hope to update you soon on the journey so far.
Happy Ampuversary.
