Meet The Woman Who Smells Like A Fish; See How She Masks Her Odour.
A 41- year- old woman namely Kelly Fidoe- White has disclosed that she has a rare condition that makes her smell like fish.
Kelly claims she noticed this from a tender age but did not find out the true cause until the age of thirty- four. She reveals that she has to take four showers a day to mask her odour. The woman who is a senior radiographer from Oldham, Manchester, has lived her entire life with trimethylaminuria (TMAU); a disorder more popularly known as ” fish- odour syndrome” .

The condition is so rare it has only been recorded hundred times in medical records, per the National Organisation for Rare Disorders. However, some medical professionals believe the real figure may be much higher and other sources put it around 200.
People suffering from TMAU regularly produce a range of strong bodily odours with examples such as rotten fish, onion, and feces. Kelly at the beginning noticed her urine would smell like fish at the age of six, and when puberty kicked in years later, she started to develop a prominent body odour beyond her toilet visits.

She discloses that she has suffered decades of name-calling and even people see her be cursed. In a bid to curb the smell, the woman claims she would shower up to four times a day, but that only made her natural perfume worse.

There is no cure for TMAU but avoiding certain foods ( liver, beans, peanuts, and cruciferous vegetables) and supplementing specific nutrient levels can lessen the symptoms, which can fluctuate over time.
