Nigerian Man Arrested for Scamming White Lady of N2.4 Billion.
A Nigerian man, Uche Raymond Okoye, was tried in court and found guilty of at least 10 charges, including obtaining money by pretense and perpetrating love scams that duped a Guyanese lady of the sum of $6, 059, 900 (N2, 478, 131, 000).
His victim, Suruj Dei Balkaran, 65 years of age, was scammed of such a hefty amount after the suspect had lied to her that he had some packages to give her. It was learned that the suspect used an alias, Uche Parker, to defraud other ladies.

As part of his modus operandi, he would use his alias to make friends with his unsuspecting victims, before later soliciting money from them, including Ms Balkaran.
According to the Guyana Police, who charged him to court, he presented himself to the woman as a seller of technological gadgets and electronic devices.
He had informed Ms Balkaran that he would have the purported items sent over to her, but that he needed to call a representative who would help him clear the packages and deliver them to the lady. Unknown to her, he was referring to himself as the representative.
She received a Whatsapp contact from him so that she could call him concerning the transactions. She sent him the money and waited for her delivery, but nothing came.

Instead, what she kept receiving from Uche was complaints of complications regarding the movement of the packages, after which Uche would tell her to send in more money, via bank transfers and the Western Union. But she never got the packages.
The lady testified at Uche’s trial that it was her life savings which she was duped of by the suspect. Key witnesses at the trial testified that money was sent to their bank accounts, with them receiving a percentage of the cash after withdrawing it for the suspect.
It was also learned that Uche had arrived in Guyana from Brazil last year without undergoing immigration procedures. He is also understood to be part of a crime syndicate in the country, which operates in the US, UK, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Paraguay, and other countries.
