Reason Why Bobrisky and Other Crossdressers Cannot Be Arrested in Nigeria – Police PRO Reveals.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, recently discussed the challenges surrounding the arrest and prosecution of crossdressers like Bobrisky, James Brown, and Jay Boogie in Nigeria.
During an interview on Channels TV, Adejobi highlighted the complexity of certain cases, comparing them with rape cases. He emphasized that proving such cases requires meeting various legal criteria, and failure to establish any of these elements could lead to a case being dismissed in court.
Adejobi clarified that arrest and prosecution need credible evidence against the individuals in question. He noted that while crossdressing itself is not illegal in Nigeria to his knowledge, allegations against crossdressers are often based on natural offenses that demand substantial evidence for legal action.
The public’s response to this clarification was mixed, with some expressing frustration over perceived inconsistencies in law enforcement priorities.
Questions were raised regarding the policing of certain aesthetic choices like dreadlocks compared to the apparent leniency towards crossdressers.
