So many men find waist beads worn by women enticing, while others are just fascinated by the sounds it makes on the waist, especially when worn by female dancers while entertaining in an event.
Waist beads have become a fashion statement for women, especially African women.

It is believed that waist beads can do a lot more than fashion, and in some cases, it is said that some waist beads act as a protection from bad omen.
There is a story of a girl named Gloria a Nigerian who was saved by her waist bead from r@pe by her Lebanese employer in Lebanon.
Gloria went off the shores of Nigeria to find greener pastures in Lebanon. She got a job as a maid and on that faithfully day, her boss picked interest in her while she was sweeping the floor and made advances on her and tried to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her.
In her words:
“When I bought my waist beads some two years ago, I did so because of fashion. But do you know that the beads eventually saved me from the hands of those who lured me to Lebanon for slave trade?”

“I was linked up and introduced to a human trafficker unknowingly who facilitated my movement to Lebanon. I was told I will be employed as an English teacher in the Country. I have my National Diploma in Accountancy and I can teach, so I jump at the offer.”
“On getting there it was a different ball game, I was introduced to a certain man, and was told that he will be my master, I was to cook and take care of his house. I had no option but to take the job since I was already there.”
“My Boss started making advances toward me, and I kept resisting, I knew what he wanted and I was not that type of woman. So on one occasion I sat him down and told him that I could not sleep with any other man apart from the one that gave me this Bead.”

“He dared me and ask what will be the consequences if I had an affair with another man. So I told him that such a man will be mentally deranged for six days and on the seventh day he would die. That calmed him down and I was saved. My waist bead saved from rape and s3xu@ll harassment from my Lebanese Boss.”
Gloria was saved by her tweet on social media which got the attention of Government officials in Nigeria. She was later rescued and reunited with her family in Nigeria.
Gloria’s story is just one of those many stories of the power of waist bids.
