WhatsApp has a large audience which is 1.5 billion strong and in Kenya, it is no doubt the most popular way people communicate with one another. There are several ways people communicate on the app: regular texts, sharing files, making voice and video calls and also the classic voice notes.
Voice notes are fun, they are calling but without the whole process of gobbling up your precious airtime. However, on WhatsApp, creating voice notes is a pain. You are forced to keep tapping on the mic icon until you release it to stop recording. This is not an ideal and natural way of using the feature and WhatsApp is changing that.
According to Android Police, WhatsApp has been testing on how you can create voice notes easily.
On the latest WhatsApp for Android beta app (version 2.18.102), they have added a voice recording lock option. Apparently this does not appear immediately when you start creating a voice note, but it later on appears giving you a hint to slide up to lock the recording.
This move now has a slightly different user interface change. When you lock your mic when recording your voice note, you will see a cancel button at the bottom, which you will press when you are done recording.
If you are on the beta channel on WhatsApp, you might see this new feature. However, if you’re not and you would like to try it, you can head over to APK Mirror and grab the app.
