After Obi Cubana Was Released by EFCC See What He Was Caught Doing with Friends.

Nigerian businessman and socialite is currently basking in freedom after he was finally released from EFCC custody after spending three days with the anti-graft agency. 

Recall that earlier in the week, reports broke that Obi Cubana arrived at EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 12pm on Monday, November 1, 2021, where he was summarily detained and grilled for hours.

According to top sources at the anti-graft agency, the 46-year-old was been detained on allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.

Obi Cubana was finally released on, Thursday, November 4, 2021. The above was confirmed by Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC’s spokesman, in a message to media outlets. 

“He has been released,” he wrote in a short text message.

The Cubana group honcho is not seemingly basking in his freedom as can be evidenced by a video making the rounds on social media. In the video, Obi Cubana can be seen flanked by friends celebrating his release including billionaire businessman, Ayiri Emami, amongst others.

Before his release yesterday, false reports had made the rounds earlier in the week stating that he had been released. 

On Tuesday evening, a close friend and associate of the popular businessman stated that he had been released. The friend identified as Onwumelu Valentine made this known in a post shared on Instagram. 

“Thank u Jesus!! @obi_cubana is free. We gat Jesus!!! . Dis Dance is for all my fans. I love u all,” he wrote.

Not long after, a post was shared via Obi Cubana’s official Instagram page wherein he expressed his gratitude to all those who had supported him following his detainment by the anti-graft agency. 

“Okpataozueora! I love you all! Unbroken #manoftheyear2021,” he wrote.

This was however debunked by sources at the agency. 

According to Punch, Obi Cubana’s passport has also been seized by the EFCC in a bid to restrict him from traveling as investigations continue. 

“Obi Cubana has not been released, he is still having quality sessions with investigators over alleged money laundering running into millions of naira and tax fraud.” a source told newsmen.

“He will be released when he has satisfactorily responded to all questions relating to his involvement in various illegal deals. As part of an investigation, his travel document has been temporarily seized pending the conclusion of investigations.”

Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana rose to public prominence last month, July 2021, following the lavish burial ceremony he threw for his mother following her death last year December. 

According to reports, there were over 300 cows set for the slaughter, over 50 private jets landed in two airports ferrying VIPs to the lavish celebration of life, wads of cash.

The burial could not go unnoticed on social media as many drooled over the show of wealth displayed at Oba.

The 46-year-old is a man who wears many hats some of which include businessman, entertainer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and lifestyle enthusiast.

He is from Oba, Idemili South, Anambra State.

In 2008, he got married to his beautiful wife, Ebele Iyiegbu who is a lawyer by profession. They have four kids- all boys. 

Following the massive show of wealth on display at Obi’s mother’s burial in Oba, Anambra state, Cubana has since become more popular on Instagram and other social spaces in the country.
