EPL: Gary Neville reveals some Arsenal players have become ”mafia” against Arteta
Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has claimed a group of Arsenal players have constituted themselves into “a little mafia” under Mikel Arteta.
Neville was speaking about the Gunners’ 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend on Monday Night Football.
According to him, he felt “uncomfortable” with what he saw at the Emirates on Saturday night.
Neville singled out their front six – Dani Ceballos, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette for criticism.
He said: “I have to say, coming out of Saturday, we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes at Arsenal but there were a few of those players on the front part of the pitch, it looked like a little mafia.
“It looked like a little group of players who weren’t comfortable like there was a disconnect between them and the manager.
“Like the manager looked like he’d had enough of them like he had that glazed-eye look.
“Look, it’s instinct but we’ve been around football now quite a long time to know when a group of players are disinterested.
“We could be completely wrong and next week we could be talking about how great they are.”
