A Hausa man identified as Yahaya Ahmed, has thrown people in a state of awe after he built a three- bedroom house made from plastic bottles in Kaduna.
Ahmed who is a Nigerian civil engineer was interviewed by BBC Pidgin, where he disclosed that the house took a total of 17, 800 plastic bottles which he got from waste bins, waterways, and the gutters.
According to him, using plastic bottles saved him a lot of money which he would have spent If he went for a cement block house which causes not less than 10, 000 dollars for such an expensive house. Additionally, Ahmed suggested that Nigerians should adopt this type of house construction because it’ s cheaper and will go a very long way in tackling the issue of plastic waste in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
