A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja Wednesday ordered the state House of Assembly to halt probe of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode pending the determination of the case before it.
As earlier reported, Ambode had dragged the Assembly leadership to court over the probe of his administration’s procurement of 820 buses worth N7 billion for public transport.
When the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday, lead counsel to the respondents, Adenike Oshinowo, requested for time to respond to the application, saying it was received late Tuesday.
Ruling on the matter, the presiding judge, Justice Y. Adesanya, ordered the parties to maintain the status quo pending the outcome of the case.
The judge has, however, adjourned the case till November 20 for the respondents in the matter to respond to the plaintiff’s application.
Meanwhile, the Hon. Mudashiru Obasa-led Lagos State House of Assembly has agreed to halt the probe of the former governor.
The resolution was reached on Wednesday at the Assembly plenary.
