Their demands come as President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that a new minimum wage bill will be sent to the Senate for implementation. In a statement released earlier today, President Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges faced by Nigerians and promised to take steps to address them.
“While we celebrate our democracy today, we must also acknowledge the struggles of our people,” President Tinubu said. “We will send a new minimum wage bill to the Senate for implementation, to ensure that our workers earn a living wage that reflects the true value of their labor.”

The protesters, however, remain skeptical, demanding more concrete actions from the government to address the country’s economic woes.
“We need more than just promises,” said one protester, who identified himself as Comrade Johnson. “We need action, and we need it now. The cost of living is too high, and our salaries are too low. We demand a living wage, and we demand it now.”
The protest continues peacefully, with security forces maintaining a watchful eye. As the day goes on, it remains to be seen whether the government will take further steps to address the protesters’ demands.
