Escaped KADUNA School Student Among Those Recently Kidnapped Recount Ordeal in the Hands of Kidnappers.
Mustapha Abubakar, a student abducted from Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recently recounted his harrowing escape from captivity. Abubakar revealed that he managed to flee from his captors while being transported, as reported by the Daily Post.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Abubakar detailed the arduous journey he and his fellow captives endured. He described trekking through the bush, sometimes resorting to crawling to avoid detection. The grueling trek took a toll on their strength, leading some students to become weak and fall due to exhaustion, only to be assisted onto motorcycles by the bandits.
The bandits maintained a strict vigilance, instructing the children to strip down and lie low whenever an aircraft flew overhead, highlighting the constant danger they faced.
Their journey included crossing a challenging river, where they quenched their thirst before continuing their march. With limited food, the bandits scavenged for sustenance, surviving on leaves and wild fruits.
Abubakar recounted his pivotal moment of escape, stating, “While we were on the move, I noticed a shrub that matched the color of my trousers. I concealed myself inside and crawled stealthily. I waited until it was completely quiet before emerging and making my way into the bush.”
