Ex-APC National Officer Writes to US, EU, UK Urging Tinubu’s Resignation Over Alleged Forgery.
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has taken a bold step by appealing to international bodies, including the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to intervene in a matter of alleged certificate forgery concerning President Bola Tinubu.
Frank’s appeal stems from what he claims to be compelling evidence suggesting that Tinubu presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 presidential election. Under Section 137(1)(j) of the Nigerian Constitution, individuals with forged certificates are ineligible to hold the office of President, according to Frank.
In a significant turn of events, Chicago State University (CSU) recently made an official statement, under oath, confirming that someone named “Bola A. Tinubu” had indeed attended the institution. However, they denied issuing a diploma certificate to him. This revelation has fueled Frank’s call for democratic organizations, former Presidents, retired Supreme Court Justices, labor unions, student associations, medical and legal bodies, as well as civil society groups, to unite in demanding Tinubu’s resignation.

Frank emphasized the urgency of ECOWAS taking action to prevent Tinubu from continuing as its chairman, asserting that his legitimacy had been severely compromised due to the alleged forgery. He argued that Tinubu’s continued occupancy of this position would erode democratic standards and violate international charters subscribed to by Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the African Union.
As the call for Tinubu’s resignation reverberates within both national and international circles, the coming days will likely shed light on the response of the implicated parties and the unfolding developments surrounding this controversial issue.
