Jummai Mutah, a brave survivor among the Chibok Schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram, recently shared a harrowing yet inspiring account of her time in captivity.

In video footage aired by Channels TV and circulated on YouTube, Mutah recounted a moment when her faith and resilience were put to test.

Mutah revealed that during her captivity in the notorious Sambisa forest, she held onto her Bible, finding solace and strength in its words despite the circumstances. However, her decision to seek solace in her faith did not go unnoticed by her captors. Alongside 21 other captives, Mutah was accused of undermining Boko Haram’s ideology by practicing Christianity.

Subsequently, the group’s enforcers escorted them to their leader, the notorious Abubakar Shekau, known for his ruthless tactics and uncompromising stance on religious matters. In a moment of fear and uncertainty, Mutah and her fellow captives faced the prospect of severe punishment for their alleged transgressions.

Yet, in a remarkable twist of fate, Mutah described how divine intervention by God saved them. Rather than meting out punishment, Shekau surprisingly declared that they were not permitted to practice Christianity within the confines of the camp. In Mutah’s own words, it was a miraculous moment.

“They carried us to Shekau to punish us for reading a Bible and God did a miracle,” Mutah recounted. “He said he didn’t want us to do Christian religion in Sambisa.”

Despite the reprieve offered by Shekau’s decree, Mutah’s ordeal was far from over. Alongside her fellow captives, she endured unimaginable hardships and uncertainty about their fate. However, the faith that sustained her during those dark days eventually led to her eventual rescue and reunion with her loved ones.
