Florida Woman Who Feeds Her Husband Breast Milk Said the Habit Started After She Forgot Her Breast Pump on Vacation Cruise.
A Florida couple, Rachel and Alexander Bailey, have been making headlines for their unconventional breastfeeding practice.
Rachel, 31, has been breastfeeding her husband, 30, alongside their three children. This unique habit started in 2016 when Rachel forgot her breast pump on a vacation cruise, leading to painfully engorged breasts.
In a bid to find relief, Alexander tried drinking her milk, and they continued the practice after the births of their two younger children. Rachel would breastfeed Alexander at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and when her supply dwindled, they switched to nightly feedings. Alexander reportedly loves the taste of Rachel’s breast milk, preferring it to cow’s milk.
Rachel claims her breast milk has numerous health benefits, including keeping Alexander from getting a cold for over two years and leaving his skin glowing. She attributes this to the nutritional value of her milk.
However, when Rachel’s breast milk supply stopped altogether, the couple grieved the loss of their special bonding experience. They even briefly considered having another baby to continue breastfeeding but decided against it, realizing it was a drastic action.
Instead, they now wake up at 5 am each morning to meditate and connect before starting their day. Rachel emphasizes that breastfeeding was never a sexual act for them but a way to bond and share something special as a couple. Although they miss the breastfeeding times, they have found new ways to connect.
“We grieved that bonding experience that we shared, and we even spoke about having one more baby so that we could do it again,” Rachel said. “However, we realized that was a drastic action to take and a lot of work, so instead we began looking for other ways that we could bond as a couple.”
Rachel explained that she was in pain and scared about getting an infection when she forgot her breast pump, leading to Alexander trying her milk. “I was in so much pain and I was scared about getting an infection, so we decided that my husband was going to try drinking the milk to relieve me,” she said.
The couple continued the practice, with Alexander enjoying the taste of Rachel’s milk. “He ended up loving the taste of my breast milk and even prefers it to cow’s milk now,” Rachel said.
Rachel believes her milk has health benefits, keeping Alexander healthy and glowing. “Because my milk is so nutritious, it kept him from getting a cold for more than two years and left his skin glowing,” she said.
Although their breastfeeding practice has ended, the couple has found new ways to connect and bond. “It was never a sexual thing for us. We did it because it was an amazing way for us to bond and share something special as a couple,” Rachel said. “We really miss the breastfeeding times that we shared, but we have found new ways to connect.”
