“I Smoked for 27 Years, Started at 13” Actress Tonto Dikeh Reveals in Emotional Church Testimony (Video).
In a raw and emotional church testimony that has surprised many of her fans, popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has shared details of a long private struggle, revealing she was a smoker for 27 years.
The Rivers State-born actress made the revelation at the Streams of Joy International church, led by Pastor Jerry Eze. Speaking to the congregation, Dikeh said she first picked up the habit as a young teenager.

“I started smoking at the age of 13,” she confessed. She pointed directly to the influence of her family environment, stating that her father initiated her into the habit. “I inherited my smoking habit from my dad,” she explained. “Smoking meant nothing in my family, till date.”
Now describing herself as “born again,” Dikeh said she smoked cumulatively for 27 years, calling herself a “chimney.” She used her story to warn parents, urging them to be mindful of their actions around their children. “Keep your bad habits away from your children,” she advised.

But her testimony went beyond smoking. The actress also opened up about a severe struggle with alcohol. She described herself as a heavy drinker who would consume alcohol alone at home to hide the problem from the public eye.
“I hated going out because of this habit. I didn’t want people to see it,” she said. “I will drink at home and I’ll pass out. I am not saying two cups of alcohol—I am telling you two bottles of alcohol a day. Big Vodka bottles.”
Dikeh, who has been in the public eye for years often surrounded by controversy, credited her faith with helping her break free. She said it was the Holy Spirit, working through a “spirit of shame,” that finally helped her quit both smoking and drinking.
