Abductors of 39 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization in Afaka, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state have released a video of the students with them.

The gunmen who were dressed in a military outfit are demanding N500 million ransom for the release of the students.

Three parents of some of the abducted students have confirmed that the abductors have reached out and made a demand of N500 million.

The kidnappers released three videos showing the students in what appeared to be a forest. Some of the students earlier rescued from the college confirmed the identities of their friends and schoolmates in the videos.

Recall that the gunmen stormed the school in the early hours of Friday, March 12, and abducted the students. While 180 of the students were rescued by the troops later in the day, 39 of them comprising 23 females and 16 males are still in captivity.

In the video released, the students appealed to the Federal Government to come to their aid and rescue them.

A man has taken to Twitter to narrate how his fiancée, who was traveling from Calabar to Ibadan, was kidnapped by “criminal herders” alongside other female passengers.

He explained that he had spoken with his fiancée, Precious Patrick Ibor, at 7:37pm on March 9, 2021, and she informed him that she was already at Ijebu Ode, heading to Ibadan.

When he didn’t hear from her 3 hours later and her number wasn’t connecting, he visited the terminal of the transport company she traveled with and was informed that 3 buses, including the one his fiancée was in, were attacked by bandits.

The male passengers were beaten and robbed while the female passengers were taken into the bush and have not been seen since then.

He added that the incident has been reported to the nearest police station and the Oyo state anti-kidnapping squad.

The abductors reached out to the transport company one day after to demand 10 million Naira, the man said.


In another related news, an unidentified gunman has reportedly shot a Senior Secondary School 3 female student in Ekiti State.

The student whose name was given as Ayomide Adaranijo was shot on her stomach, breast, and arm.

Adaranijo who is now receiving medical treatments at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado Ekiti was attacked on Wednesday evening at the Basiri area of Ado Ekiti metropolis.

The victim’s mother, Omolayo Adaranijo, said they were waylaid at Basiri junction around 7.56 pm by an arm-wielding man who suddenly alighted from a bike and opened fire on her daughter.

She added that her 15-yr-old daughter immediately fell and blood began to ooze out from her stomach, arms, and breast where the pellets pierced her.
