NDLEA Arrests Kano Businesswoman Trying to Cross Border with Drugs in Fake Pregnancy Bump.
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have stopped a female drug trafficker who tried to use a fake pregnancy to move illegal drugs out of the country.
The suspect, Rabi Muhammad, is a 35-year-old businesswoman from Kano. She was caught at the Seme land border in Lagos on Monday, February 16, 2026, while trying to cross into Cotonou in Benin Republic.
NDLEA officers at the departure tarmac noticed her protruding tummy and decided to take a closer look. What they found shocked them.

According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, who released a statement on Sunday, February 22, a full body search revealed that her pregnancy was not real.

“Her pregnancy was fake and her baby bump was designed with a pink coloured calabash used to conceal 3,200 capsules of tramadol, which she tied around her stomach and was taking to Cotonou to sell,” the statement read.
The drugs were carefully hidden inside the calabash that she had strapped to her stomach to look like a pregnant woman. She thought this would help her move freely without raising suspicion from security agents.

But her plan failed when NDLEA officers decided to do a thorough check on her. The agency did not give more details about what will happen to her next, but she is currently in their custody.
This is not the first time the NDLEA has caught drug traffickers using strange methods to hide their goods. In the past, they have intercepted drugs hidden in things like food items, clothes, and body parts. But this case of a fake pregnancy bump is one of the more unusual ones in recent times.
