Nigeria Army Accepts Responsibility For Killing of Innocent Civilians in Kaduna State.
The Nigerian Army has admitted to being involved in the bombing of locals in Tudun Biriin, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, during a Maulud Nabiy festival according to a report by Sahara Reporters.
The Nigeria Army said the operation targeted terrorists with the airstrikes. Over thirty inhabitants lost their lives as a consequence of the disaster, while other residents suffered severe injuries.
More reports from others sources confirms that over 140 people were killed in the air strike.
Initially, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) denied conducting air operations over the recent 24 hours in Kaduna State and its surrounding areas. Gabriel Gabkwet, the director of public relations and information for the NAF, made note of the fact that other organizations are also using armed combat drones in the North Western area of Nigeria.
The army’s claim of culpability for the unfortunate occurrence was validated by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State.
He claimed to have informed the Kaduna State Government about the incident, which left many people dead or injured. The Nigerian Army presented the events leading up to the unintentional assault in a meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, with chiefs of security agencies, religious leaders, and traditional leaders in attendance.
” The General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army, Major VU Okoro revealed that the Nigerian Army was on a normal operation against terrorists but mistakenly injured inhabitants of the community, ” reads the Commissioner’s statement.
Concerns over the safety of people in places affected by violence have been highlighted by the occurrence which has incited indignation.
There is pressure on the government and security services to make sure that tragedies like this don’t happen again. It has also been highlighted how important it is to the many security personnel working in the area to coordinate and communicate better.
The devastating attack brought attention to the difficulties encountered by Nigerian counterinsurgency forces once again, especially the need to strike a balance between the necessity of stopping terrorism and the safety of civilian lives and property.
The government of Kaduna State had pledged to look into the issue and take necessary action to stop such incidents from happening in the future. Additionally, the government has promised to help the affected community and see to it that the wounded get the care they need.
