
President Tinubu Approves Automatic Jobs, ₦250k Each for 200 Exceptional NYSC Members.
President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service. The honourees, recognized for their exceptional service between 2020 and 2023, will also each receive ₦250,000 and a postgraduate scholarship to any Nigerian university.

The announcement was made at the President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. Represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Tinubu commended the awardees for their “discipline, commitment, selflessness, teamwork, patriotism, and integrity.”
Key Highlights of the Awards
- Automatic Federal Employment – The 200 honourees will be fast-tracked into civil service roles.
- ₦250,000 Cash Award Each – Totaling ₦50 million in recognition of their service.
- Postgraduate Scholarships – Full scholarships for master’s or PhD programs in any Nigerian university.
- Special Recognition for Disabled Ex-Corps Members – 10 physically challenged former corps members who sustained injuries during service will also be given federal jobs.

Tinubu’s Charge to Nigerian Youth
The President urged Nigerian youths to remain hopeful and resist forces seeking to destabilize the nation. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through education, skills development, and technology initiatives.
“In appreciation of these critical roles played by youths in national development, we have developed several youth-related programs to put them at the forefront of our economy,” Tinubu stated.

Top Performers Recognized
The ceremony also celebrated the best-performing corps members in male and female categories:
Male Category:
- Polycarp Nunaya (Adamawa State, served in Kwara)
- Okpogbo Chinedu (Imo State, served in Cross River)
- Dr. Ugwa Mark (Abia State, served in Cross River)
- Rabiu Mayokun (Osun State, served in Rivers)
Female Category:
- Akase Nguwasen (Benue State, served in Gombe)
- Igwe Anne Chikaodi (Enugu State, served in Sokoto)
Government’s Commitment to Youth Development
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised Tinubu’s dedication to youth empowerment, citing recent initiatives such as:
- Increased NYSC allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000
- Startup funding and job creation in tech and renewable energy
- More youth appointments in government
“This administration is restoring faith in national progress by putting youth at the center of development,” Olawande said.

NYSC DG Hails Reforms
Brigadier General Yushau’u Ahmed, Director-General of NYSC, applauded the government’s reforms, including the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund and the proposed NYSC Trust Fund, which will ensure sustainable funding for the scheme.

He described the 10 disabled honourees as “heroes of our Republic” for their unwavering dedication despite their challenges.
