Russia Sets Conditions for Immediate Ceasefire in Ukrainian.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from territories annexed by Russia is a prerequisite for any settlement of the ongoing war.
Putin made this statement during a visit to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow ahead of the Ukraine peace summit scheduled to take place in Switzerland over the weekend.
He indicated that if Ukraine renounced its bid for NATO membership, Russia would be prepared to cease fire and immediately enter into negotiations.
His speech was strategically timed to coincide with the current G7 summit in Italy and the upcoming Ukraine peace event in the Swiss mountain resort of Bürgenstock.

Putin asserted that the integration of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson into Russia is non-negotiable. He demanded that Ukraine withdraw its forces from the parts of these regions it still controls.
The Kremlin leader emphasized that these are Russia’s minimum demands to resolve the conflict rather than just freeze it.
Reiterating his demands from the invasion’s onset in February 2022, Putin called for the establishment of a neutral, non-aligned, and nuclear-free Ukraine. Additionally, he demanded that Ukraine be disarmed and “denazified,” a term widely interpreted in the West as installing a Russia-approved leadership in Kyiv.
