Nollywood industry has been blessed with talented actors who interpreted their roles in movies excellently, unfortunately, we have lost many of them to illness.
In this article we’ll be looking at 5 deceased Nollywood actors who came out publicly to beg for money for treatment but unfortunately passed away.

Most times people equate fame to riches or wealthy, at times it’s not the case here in Nigeria. Some actors who take on wealthy roles in movie are not quite wealthy in real life, particularly the male actors.
Some of them who really had no money solicited for help when they were suffering from serious illness.
Also, some solicited for help too late so when their plight finally came out open, it became too late to save their lives.
Their unfortunate death in the industry signifies that behind the glamour that Nollywood exudes, there is a harsh reality of impoverishment that many are not aware of, no offense please.
Let’s take at some Nollywood Actors who came out publicly beg for help, but sadly died on the course .
1. Olumide Bakare Suffered Cardiac Arrest Before Passing On

Yoruba legend Olumide Bakare was a fantastic actor before his passing away. He was well- known for his Yoruba film roles even though he features in English films as well. . He is known for picking up the roles husband, parent, chief and traditional ruler in movies. Olumide Bakare was born and bred in Ibadan. The star was taken to the UCH Hospital in Ibadan after suffering a cardiac arrest. He pleaded with his colleagues to say a prayer for his family and to help him financially with his medical bills, but he died in April 2017.
2. Ashley Nwosu Suffered Liver Problems And Died In April 2011
Ashley Nwosu who was one of Nollywood’s greatest actors died a painful death. News heard it that he died of liver problems in April 2011 at the age of 58. It was reported that Nollywood actors and actresses abandoned him during his trying times, despite the fact that many of his colleagues were said to be owing him. They had all abandoned him to his fate and had not heeded his requests for financial assistance to pay for his treatments. His family continued to plead for help to the public and successful film stars, but their cries went unheard, and the actor died a painful death eventually.

3. Enebeli Elebuwa Battled With Stroke And Passed On In Year 2011
Enebeli Elebuwa became unwell in year 2011, his colleague Segun Arinze appealed to well- meaning Nigerians to assist him in raising funds for the actor’s treatment, the actor was suffering from a stroke as at that time. As his condition deteriorated, the Delta State government stepped in to save him and flew him to India for treatment. However, it was too late, as the actor died shortly after arriving at the Indian hospital. Following his death, Nollywood actress Stella Damasus expressed her dissatisfaction with the way her colleagues and the public handled the situation, accusing her colleagues of utilizing social media to publicize their assistance. Nollywood stars and actresses turned up in their numbers to commemorate his passing with a decent burial.
4. Prince James Uche Suffered Kidney Failure And Died On March 2017
Prince James Uche was well known for his main roles in classic films such as Igodo and Lost Kingdom, which was recognized as one of Nigeria’s best Nollywood films at that time. Because he couldn’t pay his hospital expenses, he was released from the hospital without being treated. In January 2017, he was released from the hospital and returned home to recover from a stroke and other serious ailments. Desmond Eliot and the actor’s son, came to his rescue and appealed to the public to help gather cash for Prince James Uche’s kidney transplant in India, which required at least 15 million Naira. Despite the efforts of well- intentioned Nigerians who contributed funds for his treatment, the ailing actor died on March 8, 2017.

5. Martins Njubuigbo Suffered Liver Disease And Died October 2016
Martins Njubuigbo, commonly known as Elder Maya, was indeed a renowned Nollywood actor. In various Nollywood films, he has played a village doctor and a titled chief. Martins Njubuigbo died after a protracted battle with liver disease. He only needed one million naira to cover his hospital expenses before passing away, and he appealed to Nigerians for help. A well- known cleric came to his rescue and gave him a one- million- naira contribution. The actor, however, died in October of 2016.
