Scenes at the Handover Ceremony of Rotary Club of Abuja Gwarinpa Newage District 9125.

It was a night of fun and laughter as Rotarians across district 9125 converged at water fountain park, Jahi District Abuja to commemorate with the outgoing President of Rotary Club of Abuja Gwarinpa Newage” Mr. Emmanuel Alkali, and welcome the new President Mr. Olushola Lawal.

Over the years, Rotary International has become a household name in the areas of humanitarian services.

Humanitarian services such as disease prevention and control, child and maternal health, provision of clean water, and many more are some of the cardinal points of Rotary International.

The gala night kick-started with an opening prayer followed by a welcome address by the outgoing President Mr Emmanuel Alkali.

Subsequently, Rotarians and other Invited guests were acknowledged while the outgoing President Mr. Emmanuel presented a brief on the achievements of the club  in 2020/2021 Rotary Year.

Usually, the Rotary calendar ends every June, which then ushers in a new set of leaders with the mantle of carrying out their respective duties as contained in the constitution.

At the height of the event was the presentation of awards to some Rotarians for their selfless services to humanity.

While speaking with newsmen after the event, the outgoing President Mr Emmanuel reiterated his commitment to Rotary Club International as well as his passion for humanity.

“ Rotary is a way of life. It helps connect with people of different vocations and races. Rotary helps in building capacity and leadership and above all, it provides the avenue to do what only I cannot do. Giving back to the society through service projects and other projects funded by the Rotary Foundation always gives me joy and has made me proud of living a meaningful life.”

“One of our mottos in Rotary is ‘service above self. Rotary is far much more than a social club and our contributions to Nigeria and the world at large can never be over-emphasized.”

“Rotary has been working assiduously to eliminate Polio in the world. Today Nigeria and indeed Africa is certified free of  wild Polio virus, thanks to Rotary and the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation our partners.”

“Rotary has a permanent seat at the UN and Foundation gives millions of dollars for people-based projects every year.” He Said

The event happened on the 9th of July, 2021.
