The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is grilling a father, Isa Bola Bakare, and his son, Malik Giles Bakare, over alleged conspiracy on computer-related fraud.

According to reports, Malik acted as a “middleman” who connects internet fraudsters around the globe with pickers and receives some percentage on every successful transaction.

He was arrested and handed over to the Commission by officers of the Nigeria Police, Force CID, Alagbon, Lagos on May 31, 2021.

During the course of the investigation, his father, Isa Bola Bakare, appeared at the Commission claiming ownership of a Range Rover car estimated at about N46 Million, which was recovered from his son. However, the father failed to provide a satisfactory account of how he was able to procure the vehicle so he was arrested too.

Items seized from the suspects include the vehicle, an iPhone 12 Pro Max, an iPhone 8, and “some incriminating items”.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 9, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said Malik acted as a middleman between fraudsters.

The statement reads:

“He connects internet fraudsters around the globe with pickers, and receives some percentage on every successful transaction.”

Suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as “yahoo boys” were said to have resisted arrest by alleged operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Offence Commission.

The tension was palpable in some areas in Osogbo, Osun state capital early Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the EFCC operatives sneaked into the state capital and stormed Adetunji and Hallelujah Estate to arrest suspected fraudsters.

The youths in the area waylaid them and prevented them from taking away the suspects and the 20 exotic cars that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had seized.

The operatives, it was gathered had to run into safety to avoid being mobbed by the angry youths, who set bonfire at Lameco junction in the state capital.

In another related news, a shocking video of a Nigerian yahoo girl trying to scam a foreigner on behalf of her boyfriend has gone viral.

According to social media reports, the partner of the young lady is an internet fraudster commonly known as yahoo boy and he created a catfish account online pretending to be a lady.

However, after series of online chatting, the white man decided he would love to speak with the lady he has been communicating with.

That was when the yahoo boy got his girl involved and asked her to pretend as if she is the one the white man has been chatting with on social media.

The young lady can be heard asking about a card, which it is believed her boyfriend had asked the white man for, via his catfish account.
