Tribute to Nobel Peace Prize Laureate – Arch Desmond Tutu.
South Africa’s Archbishop Desmond Tutu is Dead Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who helped end apartheid in South Africa, has died aged 90.
On Sunday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that Tutu’s death was another chapter in the country’s farewell to a great generation.
“The passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is another chapter of bereavement in our nation’s farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans who liberated South Africa” Ramaphosa said.

The head of state also described him as a leader of principle and pragmatism who gave meaning to Biblical insight. Tutu who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his role as a unifying leader in the campaign to end apartheid, has been battling prostate cancer.
