The Delta State Police Command has given an update on the case regarding the woman who was allegedly assaulted by some police officers in Agbarho, a community in the state over an undisclosed issue.
Recall that the news of the alleged assault on the woman broke out some days ago where a video captured the moment police officers attached to Agbayarho station were trying the woman with rope while she was top naked. The inhumane treatment of the woman caused a lot of reaction and condemnation as to why police officers had to go so low to treat a woman like that.
The Public condemnation of the viral video made the Delta state police command to arrest the officers involved in the shameful act and refer them to the disciplinary committee for investigation and possible punishment.
However, during the investigation, it was revealed that the woman in question had earlier assaulted some police officers. It was revealed that the woman broke the windscreen of a man’s car and the man reported her to the station. A female police officer was then attached to the case to go and arrest the woman. Unfortunately, the woman beat up the female police officer.
When a backup team of policemen then arrived, the woman still refused to follow them. She then accused one of the officers who came to arrest her of stealing her son’s phone. In the process, she assaulted the policeman and poured soup on him. The video of the incident is then released to let people know the extent to which the woman went to assault the officers.
However the command spokesperson DSP Bright Edafe on Tuesday, March 27th said the actions of the Policemen who a$$ualted her still stand condemned, but it is important to know the other side of the story for balance.
