Meet The Notorious Criminal Who Is Now A Nigerian Bishop – Bishop Kayode Williams, See How God Saved.

Bishop Kayode Williams is the leading pastor and Bishop of Christ Vessels of Grace Church Inc. He is also an International and the Director-General of the International Prison Rehabilitation Mission, but before he accomplished this feat in life and ministry, he had a bad attitude toward criminal history which I will share in this article.

Bishop Kayode announced that he had committed crimes as a boy in Benin when he was in high school. During the holiday, he met Dr Isola Oyenusi, Babatunde Folorunsho and Lasisi Ajibabade, known as Dan Blockers and Balewa. These were notorious criminals who were known to terrorize the entire western region at that time. He revealed that when he first met them, they had sent him to buy a pack of Benson & Hedge cigarettes. when he bought it and returned the change to them, they gave him one pound to keep for himself. At that time, he never knew that they were criminals, but they seemed strange to him.

The next day he went to the same hiding place again and saw them smoking Indian hemp and it looked really weird. He wanted to leave the place, but they called him back and said to him that he can’ t go out from there at that time. The gang were passing round the Indian hemp to each other to smoke and when it got to his turn, he sniffed it out of fear and immediately became so much uncomfortable. He left the place staggering till he got home.

He continued to visit them and would join his gang. His mother never suspected his moves because he always told her he was going to play football and when he came back he would come back with his game kit. He said there were times that he would go to that their hiding place and he would meet them washing their blood- stained weapons, guns, cutlasses and even their clothes. Subsequently, they trained him on personal defence and on attacking and that was how he was recruited fully into the gang and he began to go out with them.

Some of their gang leaders were arrested during various operations and were executed at Bar Beach in Lagos. Before they were executed, their gang was scattered all over the Old West and they continued their looting operations, robbing banks at will with information from a banker who worked with them. Bankers always notify them when various companies come to withdraw money to pay their employees.

They were caught in one of their robberies and Judge Olufemi Odunlami, who presided over their case, sentenced him to 10 years because of his age. While in prison, he developed a tough skin that allowed him to survive inmates as hard and dying as any other. He said he was in prison planning to organize a higher level of robbery whenever he will be released without knowing God had a different plan for him.

One afternoon someone came to the prison room, preached to him, and asked him to change. As the man was leaving, he dropped a tract with him. He was about to use the tract to wrap the Indian hemp that he was about to smoke before he looked through it. He said while he read it, it seemed as if the author was talking to him in person. The part that touched him most said, ” Your repentance will not come down from heaven like fire, it will come by simply saying God forgive me. ” The tract write- up ended by asking him to kneel and confess his sins. He got up from the double bunk, got down on his knees and wept and wept bitterly.

After that time, he took all the Indian hemp hidden under his pillow and gave it to the prison guards, and people were shocked by his actions. He went from prison to church and when people saw him they ran away from him because of how he attacked the church during his criminal days. So began his journey in ministry because he was determined to respond to his calling in life. Today he is presiding bishop of Christ Vessels Of Grace Church Inc and director- general of Prison Rehabilitation Mission International.
