The tragic story surrounding the death of the sister of BBNaija star, Phyna, has taken another turn. Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has publicly called off his previously vowed protest against the Dangote Group, urging his followers the ratel family to stand down.
This development follows the heartbreaking accident where a Dangote truck crushed the legs of Phyna’s sister. The severe injuries led to a double amputation in a desperate bid to save her life. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries, a outcome that saddened many Nigerians who had been following the story.
VDM was among the most vocal figures bringing national attention to the incident. He leveraged his social media platform to demand justice and proper medical care for the victim. In a now-viral Instagram live video, the controversial activist made a promise: should anything happen to the lady, he would personally ensure that Dangote’s factory in Edo State would be unable to operate.
However, in a new video, VDM has dramatically reversed his position. He issued a direct order to members of his “Ratel Force” not to carry out any actions against Dangote’s properties or equipment. This decision, he explained, is a direct response to accusations from certain quarters that he was exploiting the tragedy for personal clout and content creation.
Addressing his critics directly, VDM stated that these allegations have led him to withdraw from the case entirely. He declared that he would no longer pursue action against the conglomerate over this specific incident, reserving his response for any potential future negligence.

“Since they are calling me a content creator, I will not be going to Edo state to stop the operation of Dangote as I promised. I will not go and create content again, let Dangote go and enjoy his business. Unless the accident happens again to someone else,” VDM declared in the video.

This backtracking adds another layer of complexity to an already emotionally charged situation. It also follows a reported fallout between VDM and Phyna during the course of the campaign, which had initially led him to step back from the case. Phyna had publicly appealed to him in a tearful live video to re-engage and help her family seek justice.
With the activist now fully withdrawing his threats, the focus shifts back to the core issues of road safety, corporate accountability, and the quest for justice for a life tragically lost. The court of public opinion remains divided, with many questioning the motives behind such a public U-turn.
