The Banyankole tribe in Uganda has a quite weird tradition. The groom must h@ve $$x with his soulmate’s aunt before he can get officially married. This tradition comes from a long time ago.
You might wonder what’s the point of this strange culture.
The answer is very simple, the bride’s aunt must check if the potential groom has any good m0ves in the bedr00m. You see, fertility is one of the most important things in the Banyankole tribe, so it is a must for the groom to be in his best shape $$xually.
This husband and aunt affa!r is not the only strange thing with this tribe, the aunt must make sure the bride also is still a virgin before she can be married.
The primary responsibility of the aunt is to make sure the groom is potent and that the bride has her virginity intact before the marriage is consummated. As a potency test for the groom, the aunt is required to have $$x with the groom for first-hand confirmation.
The aunt is said to go as far as listening and watching as the bride and groom h@ve $$x in order to prove the couple’s potency.
In as much as this outdated practice is weird, it also shows how the people of Banyankola particularly the Bahima tribe hold virginity in high esteem. As soon as a Banyankola girl is eight, she goes through a lot of restrictions to prepare her for marriage.
When other children her age from other cultures are having fun and playing around, the Uganda girls from this region are kept indoors, fed beef and millet porridge, and forced to drink milk in large quantities so they can become fat. Being fat is synonymous with beauty among the Banyankolas. When she starts developing bre@st, she is instructed by her parents to abstain from $$xual activities.
It is the duty of a Banyankola father to find a wife for his son, he is also responsible for paying the bride price as well. This consists of some cows, goats, and pots of beer depending on how rich the person is. once the bride price is paid, the marriage preparation begins. On the wedding day, there is a lot of feasting at the bride’s home where the father is expected to sl@ughter a bull.
At the bridegroom’s home, there is another feast where the marriage is consummated. This is after the bride’s aunt has tested her niece’s purity and sl3pt with the groom to also check his potency.
