The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is currently accepting applications for Window 1 of the 2024 scholarship program. This initiative, sponsored by the Japanese Government and the World Bank, aims to empower individuals from developing nations to pursue postgraduate degrees in various development-related fields.

The JJ/WBGSP provides opportunities for scholars to enroll in about 27 participating programs across universities in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan. These programs cover key areas such as economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be citizens of a World Bank member developing country without dual citizenship of a developed country.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent obtained at least 3 years prior to the application deadline.
- Possess 3 years or more of recent development-related experience after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree.
- Be in good health.
- Have received an unconditional admission offer to enroll in one of the JJ/WBGSP Preferred or Partner Master’s Degree Programs for the upcoming academic year.
Scholarship Benefits:
The JJ/WBGSP 2024 scholarship includes:
- Economy class air travel between the home country and the host university at the beginning and end of the study program, along with a US $500 travel allowance for each trip.
- Tuition coverage for the graduate program and basic medical insurance through the university.
- Monthly subsistence allowance during the scholarship period to cover living expenses, including accommodations, food, and books.
Application Procedure:
Interested applicants should complete the 2024 JJ/WBGSP application for Window 1 before the deadline of February 29, 2024. Those applying for a JJ/WBGSP Preferred Program Scholarship should concurrently seek admission to one or more of the Preferred Program(s) and apply for the scholarship.
