The World’s Largest Cruise Ship, ‘Icon of the Seas’ is set to redefine the cruising experience.
Royal Caribbean has recently unveiled its plans for the construction of the world’s largest cruise ship named ‘Icon of the Seas.’ This vessel is set to make its debut in January 2024, surpassing the current largest cruise liner, ‘Wonder of the Seas’, which is also operated by Royal Caribbean.
With a total of 18 passenger decks, the Icon of the Seas promises a unique experience for its guests. With a breathtaking array of amenities, the ship will house seven swimming pools and over 40 restaurants and bars, catering to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. Its remarkable size enables it to accommodate up to 5,610 passengers on board, and it will have a gross tonnage of 250,800.
One of the outstanding features of this luxurious cruise ship is its expansive water park, which will be the largest ever built on a cruise liner. In addition, the Icon of the Seas will introduce a unique concept of eight distinct “neighbourhoods” on board, each offering its own range of entertainment, culinary delights, and experiences.
These neighbourhoods will showcase many features, such as Thrill Island, which will include the industry’s first open free-fall slide and the tallest drop slide at sea.
Among the other neighbourhoods on board, guests can explore Chill Island, featuring ocean-view pools and a frozen cocktail bar, as well as The Hideaway, where they can enjoy the first suspended infinity pool at sea, surrounded by a multi-level sun terrace complete with whirlpools and a beach bar. Additional neighbourhoods, including Surfside and Aquadome, will also provide unique and unforgettable experiences, including an AquaTheater for entertainment.
Designed with families in mind, the Icon of the Seas introduces innovative accommodations tailored to their needs. The ship will offer the new Family Infinite Balcony and the Surfside Family Suite, providing ample space and comfort. Families can also opt for the Ultimate Family Townhouse, complete with a mailbox and a signature white picket fence, adding a touch of charm to their cruising experience.
The Icon of the Seas will embark on seven-night cruises year-round from Miami, with every itinerary including a stop at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

In an effort to prioritize sustainability, this awesome ship will be the company’s first to utilize fuel cell technology, operating on clean-burning liquified natural gas. This eco-friendly approach positions the Icon of the Seas as Royal Caribbean’s most environmentally conscious ship to date.
Michael Bayley, the president, and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed his excitement about the Icon of the Seas, describing it as the culmination of over 50 years of delivering unforgettable experiences. He emphasized that in a time when families and friends are seeking opportunities to bond and embark on their own adventures, the Icon of the Seas will provide the perfect platform to create lasting memories.
